Amit Singh Bedi (London) is the Managing Partner of Bedi Capital LLP, an FCA regulated alternative asset management firm headquartered in London. An entrepreneur and strategic investor, Mr. Bedi is the Managing Director of Bedi Acquisitions Ltd and holds several directorships world-wide, board member of investment funds and speaks regularly in Alternative Investment conferences globally.  

Mr Bedi started his career as a trader, trading equities and futures before moving to research and portfolio management. Mr Bedi has two decades of investment banking and asset management experience, specifically within alternative investments, private equity and real estate with institutions such as HSBC, TD Securities and UBS O’Connor. Mr Bedi developed an alternative investment firm and a fund of hedge fund out of London, Zurich and New York, with a team of former UBS O’Connor and D. E. Shaw Managing Directors with a track record of managing over $3 billion dollars of assets under management.

Mr Bedi received his Bachelors with Honors in Finance and Investment Management  from Sheffield Business School, a Masters in Economics and Quantitative Finance and an Executive MBA from Leeds University Business School. Mr. Bedi went on to study for a PhD in Quantitative Finance at Imperial College Business School and Judge Business School, Cambridge University. Mr Bedi is a board member of the Oxbridge Scholarship Foundation, a charity which provides funding to students studying at Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Yale. Mr Bedi supports and contributes to educational and other charities.

Mr. Bedi is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK, by the Malta Financial Services Authority and by the National Futures Association in US. 

Robert E. Large (Nevis) is a Partner and brings over 20 years in alternative investment management. Mr Large is also the Chief Executive Officer of Lauderdale Asset Management Limited which is based in, Nevis, The British West Indies where he is a permanent resident and from where he conducts investment management activities. Mr Large's career has included working for a number of Investment Banks and regulated Investment Management businesses up to Chief Executive level.

Mr Large's career over the last two decades includes a significant time in investment banks, structuring, trading in the derivatives markets and advising European Corporations on hedging strategies. Mr Large was an advisor and Director for various international asset management groups some with up to a $1 billion dollars of assets under management. Mr Large was previously Head of the Interest Rate Derivatives Group at Mitsubishi Trust and Banking Corporation, where he traded options, swaps, and multi-product portfolios. He has held similar positions within the capital markets divisions of Banque Paribas, Midland Montagu and Bankers Trust International. Mr Large received an Honours degree from Reading University and is authorised and regulated in the UK by the FCA.

Ernesto Kohn (New York) is a Partner and an Investment Director. Mr Kohn brings over 30 years of expertise in the field of alternative investments, Sales and Marketing. Mr Kohn has been a managing partner of International Advisory Group in New York, Director of Sales and Marketing at New York based alternative asset management boutiques. He has also been a Vice President of Credit Suisse Group. Mr Kohn holds an MBA from SUNY School of Management. Mr Kohn holds NASD Licenses 7, 24 and 63. Mr Kohn is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Joe F. Joyce III (New York) is a Partner and Head of Trading for BedαQuαntum. Joe started his career in Chicago in 1979 as a runner on the floor of the CME. One year later he was trading in the lumber pit as a member. In 1982 he joined ACLI International as an institutional broker servicing high profile clientele such as Chase Manhattan Bank, The Quantum Fund, Marine Midland Bank, Hong Kong Shanghai Bank, among others. From 1986 to 1993 Joe traded on the floor as a member of the New York Futures Exchange, The New York Mercantile Exchange, The Cotton Exchange and the Coffee Cocao Sugar Exchange. In 1990, he took a position as a President of Henderson Brothers Futures Corporation.

Leaving the floor in 1993, Joe traded proprietary funds while working on a neural network trading model. This trading methodology was the cornerstone of his trading systems that he continues to develop today. Joe founded SeaQuest Capital Management LLC, a Commodity Trading Advisor and Pool operator in March of 2000. The CTA posted positive returns every year and in 2006 he formed JBNJ Capital Management Inc. Joe continues to trade, forward testing trading methods and systems on a proprietary basis. Joe graduated from Fairfiled University with a degree in Economics and holds licences series 3 and is regulated by the NFA in US.

Dr Boris Afanasiev (London)  is a Partner and Head of Quantitative Research, Senior Scientist for Bedi αQuαntum. Dr Afanasiev has over two decades of Quantitative research experience with Winton, AQR and Wadhwani Asset management in London and New York.

Dr Afanasiev was Head of Quantitative Research at Winton Capital for over a decade. He has been a senior quant with substantial expertise in research and implementation of managed futures trading systems, portfolio optimisation and risk management. He has over 10 years’ track record of leading research projects and managing research teams. He is a Senior Data Scientist with rigorous training in mathematics, substantial expertise in statistical research of large arrays of data. He has helped build innovative trading strategies in futures markets, including futures on commodities, fixed income and equity indices. He has been involved in Portfolio optimisation, risk management and model building using advanced Mathematical, Econometric and Machine learning models. Dr Afanasiev managed research and implementation of the systems with total AUM of over $1 bn. He developed and implemented a portfolio of directional and relative value strategies, exploiting fundamental data, carry, seasonality and many other factors. Suggested and implemented an innovative approach to seasonal trading strategies. He also researched and implemented new volatility models resulting in doubling of the main fund’s capacity and 10% rise in the Sharpe ratio.

Dr Afanasiev holds a Masters and PhD degree Theory of Probability and Mathematical Statistics from Moscow State University, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mathematical Statistics, Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia and is a Visiting researcher at University of Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy. He also has an MBA from  Henley Management College.

Stephen Butler (London) is a Partner and Head of Trading for Bedi αQuαntum in London. Stephen started his career in London and has over two decades of trading experience with Aspect Capital, Credit Lyonnais and Man Group. Stephen was previously the Head of Commodities e-Trading at MF Global, Senior Oil Trader at Credit Lyonnais and he spent over a decade at Aspect Capital as Head of Trading and Markets.


At Aspect Capital, Stephen successfully managed a team of 8 traders and 4 researchers across the FX, Fixed Income and Commodities asset classes on behalf of a $7 billion London based hedge fund, reporting directly to the Aspect capital board of directors on all internal and external strategic and trading related activities. Stephen was responsible for the efficient trading of Aspect’s discretionary and systematic trading programmes and for the teams that interacted directly with the markets. He was involved in model building, provided strategic market and trading insight across the business by working closely with the Portfolio Management, Risk, and Compliance, Operations and Sales and Distribution teams.

Stephen holds a degree in Business and Marketing from Rathmines in Dublin and is regulated by the FCA in the UK.

Petros Fanis (London/New York) is a Partner and an Investment Director for Bedi αQuαntum. Mr Fanis brings over three decades of experience in the investment banking industry, including 20 years in commodities, with a focus on energy commodities especially oil and gas trading. Mr Fanis is currently focusing his activities on proprietary trading by utilizing algorithmic trading across multiple asset classes. Most recently, Mr Fanis was Head of Oil Trading at EDF Trading in London for a decade, after holding various positions at JP Morgan as Managing Director for Proprietary Trading, Standard Bank of South Africa as Senior Oil Trader and Merrill Lynch as VP for Interest Swaps and Commodities group. Mr Fanis started his career working for O’Connor and Associates in Chicago, where he specialized on developing risk management systems for Convertible Bonds and Equities Derivatives. Mr Fanis received his BSc in Applied Mathematics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Greece, MSc in Computer Science from University of Illinois and his MBA in Finance from City University, London. Mr Fanis is regulated by the National Futures Association in the US under Bedi αQuαntum.

Jon A. Pirtle, III MIH, CFRE (Austria and USA) Mr. Pirtle is a Partner and Managing Director for Bedi Hotels (BVI) limited and a Board Member of Bedi Capital LLP. Mr. Pirtle brings over two decades international hospitality experience including hotel planning & development in Europe, Asia and North America. He served as Senior Vice President for International Development of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, COO of Bakrieland Development, Indonesia and President/CEO of Bakrie Nirwana Resort, Bali. Projects developed under his leadership continue to operate profitably and have received numerous international awards for excellence. 

Mr Pirtle has world wide responsibility for hotel business opportunities, design-development and operations. Mr Pirtle’s responsibilities include design coordination to optimize relationships between local aesthetics, cost efficient building methods, hotel operations and the management groups’ brand standards and corresponding technical requirements.

In addition to development, Mr. Pirtle maintains good professional relationships with many of the world’s top inte (rnational operating/management groups including ACCOR, Hilton, REZIDOR, Intercontinental/Holiday Inn, Marriott and Starwood. Knowledge of operations provides Bedi Hotels with a unique insight into structuring the most advantageous management and operational agreements in order to optimize the long-term profitability.

As a member of the Institute of Hospitality, London, these working relationships are meaningful in securing the appropriate and optimal agreement for each property. Extensive and proven experience with design requirements of international operating brands, technical design and the planning process contributes to creating aesthetically appealing, cost-efficient, and operationally profitable hotel facilities.

Mr. Pirtle is a graduate of Georgia State College, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, a Certified Fundraising Executive, Member of Institute of Hospitality and Association of Fundrising Professionals, and holds real estate securities and real estate brokerage licenses in various jurisdictions. He is a resident of Vienna, Austria and Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA.

Andrew Evans (Geneva) Partner and Director of Fiduciary Services. Andrew has over 30 years international business experience including 20 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Middle East, with whom Andrew served as the country senior partner in the United Arab Emirates with operational responsibilities throughout the Middle East.

During the period to April 2001 Andrew provided consultancy services to PwC, a number of private clients and to the Jersey Financial Services Commission. Andrew then joined the Ansbacher Group as the Jersey based MD for the Channel Islands and as an Executive Director of the Group Holdings board, with responsibility for the Group’s global fiduciary service activities restructuring the Groups banking and fiduciary businesses in the Channel Islands and assisting in the disposal of the group. Following the acquisition of the Group by Qatar National Bank, Andrew relinquished his Channel Island and fiduciary responsibilities to service a number of “key” client relationships and to lead business development initiatives in the Middle East, including the establishment and oversight of Ansbacher offices in Doha and Dubai.

In May 2007, on completing a 6 month senior interim management role with the Equity Trust Group in Jersey, Andrew relocated to Switzerland to establish Khalij Fiduciaire SA, a niche provider of fiduciary consultancy and management services. Andrew specialises in designing and implementing bespoke fiduciary solutions for UHNWI’s. He also serves as a director of several development stage companies, a member of the Advisory Board to the GP of a Canadian fund investing in US renewable technology companies and as an executive director of a major entertainment and resort project in the Middle East.

Andrew holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics & Business from the University of Aberystwyth and qualified in 1978 with Deloitte Haskins & Sells. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales; an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Saskatchewan, Canada and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Arbitrators.

Inderjit S. Bedi (New Delhi) is a Partner and the Investment Director for the Indian Equity and Derivatives Investments. Mr Bedi brings over 20 years of experience in the Indian equity and derivatives market. He has been a trader in Indian equities, futures and options. Mr Bedi also holds other Directorships and is a Director of Man Financials, a subsidiary of Man Group PLC, one of the worlds largest alternative investments group with over $65 billion of assets under management. Mr Bedi holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance and an MBA in Finance from Hyderabad University. Mr Bedi has the Securities and Futures and Options Licences.
